Thanks to the Aviva Community Fund, we had a wonderful day out at Mount Usher Gardens, Ashford, Co. Wicklow.
We were truly blessed as the sun shone on us and we could enjoy the wonderful beauty the gardens have to offer.
Our guide, Maria, was terrific. Even though she has worked as a gardener there for over 2 years, we were her first guided tour. She was a fountain of knowledge but not only that, had all the interesting stories and truly kept us enthralled.
Mount Usher Gardens is quite unique. Its emphasis is on trees in a ‘Robinsonian’ style garden, which we learned is planted informally, encouraging the growth of trees in as ‘natural’ surroundings as possible.
For information on the gardens, see http://www.mountushergardens.ie/.
So again, thank you Aviva.
We hope to visit again but in May or October to experience the gardens in a different light.
